New kitchen

Presenting... Katie's kitchen! Dad got a sense of what Christmas Eves to come will be like.

Before and after pictures:

And the kitchen's first use:

First Haircut: An essay in pictures

On Saturday, we took Katie for her very first haircut. She was great. She's been moving to 1 nap a day, so we weren't sure if she'd be too tired. But she was a champ. Afterwards, we stopped at the brand new Five Guys Burgers that was built next door to the haircut place, and took home some delicious food. In surprising news, Katie has decided she likes french fries.

Getting in the chair

Hello paparazzi! Mom and Dad, of course, went for the "First Haircut Package" which included a keepsake package for some of Katie's hair and a video of the entire haircut (although we think maybe Mom was standing in front of the camera for part of it, so the video may not be particularly interesting). We wonder if there have EVER been parents at this place who decided to forego that package. Doubtful.

All ready to go, now! There is a TV to watch, too. (Note glassy eyes.)

Hmm, not so sure about this lady wielding scissors and a spray bottle

Oh! I can have the bottle? Well that's not so bad then.

If you're nice, I'll give you a spritz.

Starting to look good! High five Mommy! Time to cut your bangs, too, Mom.

I hope we can keep this spiked look going. I always wanted to look like I hear my Godmother Anne used to!

After! What a beauty!

Everything's great now Dad's holding me. Also, I CAN SEE!!!

Chicago Christmas Bonanza

Before we start this post, we would like to let you know that you can comment on this blog. Just press "Comment" below. It's so easy. I swear, it is! Is anyone out there?

OK. With that out of the way...

Katie opened her gifts from Grandma and Grandpa Henn last week. We had been hoping to celebrate in person, but the weather was so terrible, travel from Indy to Chicago would have been beyond difficult. So we just had to pretend that they were here.

Had to take the pictures while she wore her jammies!

The tub xylophone was a BIG hit. We've been playing with it at bathtime every night. It turns out that the mallets also make a great noise when banged against the tub.

Katie loved carrying around the wrapping paper in our takeout bag after the presents were all opened.

After 10 to 100 laps around the room with the bag of wrapping paper...

Bye Bye!

Christmas Bonanza Part 1

We have so many pictures from our fabulous stay in Minnesota for Christmas! Katie loved Christmas Eve with her Schwab cousins and Grandma and Papa and Aunt Anne and Uncle Christian (she got to stay up so late that she got to wear her pajamas during present opening time), and she loved Christmas morning in her special Christmas PJs.

Christmas Bonanza part 2

Katie also had fun hosting tea parties, playing around in the snow and even paid a visit to the Minnesota Children's Museum. She also got to play with her friends Liney and Jack, but we only got a picture of Katie and Liney together. Last, Katie and her friend Indy headed home to Chicago in the car, and Katie thought she should probably help Dad out a little with the driving.
