Florida!

Here are some pictures from our trip to Amelia Island in late April. We had such a great time. Katie loved the ocean, and the highlight of the pool area was the foot washing area where she could fill up her bucket with water. Over and over and over again! Katie loved the ocean. Daddy had to stop her from wandering off into the sea. She picked up lots of shells, and sampled her first ice cream cone.

A great vacation from start to finish!

Sitting in a chair like a big girl. No high chairs at the pool. She was so proud of herself.

First ice cream taste. Katie has decided she approves of ice cream.

Amelia Island is full of pirates. In this picture, Katie is actually yelling "Arrrr!"

Katie also got a new pair of sunglasses, which she insisted she had to wear on the top of her head, just like Mommy.

Easter Trip

We took a trip to Washington D.C. this weekend and stayed in Old Town Alexandria, near our old house. We had a great time, visiting friends and seeing our old favorite places. We even got to go back to our old church, where Katie had fun in the nursery. After church we went to a fun Easter brunch and Katie met the Easter Bunny, with whom she was much more comfortable than Santa Claus!

Playing on the stairs before brunch. Greeting the crowd before brunch (greeting the crowd also happened during and after brunch. And pretty much all the time. There is a lot of "HI!" and "BYE!" with Katie. She will stand and wait until a person responds to her before she moves on to greet the next crowd member.)
"HI!"
In the hotel pool with Dad.
Katie LOVES to be thrown way up in the air.

"BYE!"

And even more recent pics

More pictures!
Here are some pictures from our visit to the butterfly house at the nature museum. It's such a cool spot, filled with lots and lots of butterflies!

Picture one: Mom tries to get Katie to look at all the pretty butterflies.

Picture 2: Mom looks at butterflies. Katie spots Daddy.

Picture 3: Butterflies? WHAT butterflies?? I NEED DADDY NOW!!!

Picture 4: Oh, THOSE butterflies. Well, they're really pretty cool!

Loving driving the car at the Chicago Children's Museum.

Katie fell and scraped up her nose at the park, but she's still in good spirits.

And smelling the flowers! She loves smelling flowers.

Dad and Katie like to build forts out of the couch pillows.

Sharing a crepe at the indoor farmers market. Mmmmm!

More random photos

We've been just terrible at keeping up with the blog this past month. So here are some pictures of things we've been doing since the last post!

Some pictures from our visit to the Children's Museum in the 'burbs:
Very busy, milking the cow. Driving the train.

There's a replica of a Potbelly's inside the museum. Katie was an excellent food preparer.
Trying to climg into the little rowboat in the fake pond. I love the look of concentration on her face.
She's very good at touching her toes, and for some reason is obsessed with the Dance Dance Revolution mat.

She loves to give "PUPPY!!!" hugs. Puppy is one of her favorite things ever. In fact, Katie has been sick over the past week and a half, and the other night, she woke up crying and all she wanted was "Puppy".

She likes to sit on the kitchen stool and read her books to us.
And host tea parties at her little table.

And ESPECIALLY, spend time with her favorite person in the whole wide world - DADDY!

Some random pictures from the last few weeks

So here are a mismash of pictures from the last few weeks that we thought were cute. We've had a busy few weeks around here! Katie even got to spend a few days with Grandma and Grandpa Henn, which was FABULOUS, while mom and dad got away for a couple days of skiing at Vail. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Henn!

Katie and mom had a play in the snow, followed by some sitting on the floor drinking cocoa. Katie is very good at sitting down on her bottom IMMEDIATELY when someone mentions (a) animal crackers or (b) cocoa.

We went to a pajama party concert given by the Teddy Bear Band (instructions: wear your PJs and bring your teddy bear). We couldn't get any pictures of Katie up front, due to the toddler mosh pit (you can see it a little below - she loved the crowd of kids), so here are a few of her enjoying the concert from afar. Everyone had a GREAT time! A giant Teddy Bear even paid a visit to the crowd.

We also had a fun day at the museum of Science and Industry, where Katie examined the water feature, gave mom a kiss and checked out the only U-Boat submarine on US soil. It was huge!

Modeling Dad's sunglasses on the way home.

Last, Katie has recently gotten really into carrying around purses and bags. The more the better. She especially loves the purse in the below picture. She would carry it into the bath if she could.

And she thinks maybe she can, if she runs REALLY fast...
